Time varying interdependency between COVID-19, tourism market, oil prices, and sustainable climate in United States: evidence from advance wavelet coherence approach

چکیده
This study attempts to empirically estimate the interdependence between COVID-19, tourism market, oil prices, and sustainable climate in United States. In doing so, we employ an advanced Morlet’s wavelet approach, namely, Wavelet coherence transform (WCT), Partial Multiple Coherence found a strong co-movement variables, which is varied across time scales, indicating initial, peak, after peak effect of COVID-19 on carbon emissions using daily data from 6 March 2020 August 2020. The visuals WCT exhibit cyclic (anti-cyclic) relationship suggesting positive (negative) shorter longer (medium) period. Tourism possess all periods except medium run; however, intensity this movement higher very short-run compared longer-run. results reveal anti-cyclic association tourism, leading with negative co-movements. Finally, describe that are anti-cyclical display causality run. These offer valuable guidelines for stakeholders.

Stock Market Interactions between the BRICS and the United States: Evidence from Asymmetric Granger Causality Tests in the Frequency Domain
The interaction of BRICS stock markets with the United States is studied using an asymmetric Granger causality test based on the frequency domain. This type of analysis allows for both positive and negative shocks over different horizons. There is a clear bivariate causality that runs both ways between the United States stock market and the respective BRICS markets. In addition, both negative a...
متن کاملTime-Varying Transmission Mechanism of Oil Shocks in the Global Crude oil Market: A TVP-VAR Approach
In this paper, we have utilized a time-varying parameter vector autoregressive model in order to examine the structural changes in the transmission mechanisms of oil price shocks in the global crude oil market over the period of 1985-2016. In this setting, the contemporaneous response of real oil price and crude oil production to flow oil supply shock, flow oil demand shock, and speculative dem...
متن کاملThe Co-movement between Output and Prices: Evidence from Iran
This paper employs a multivariate dynamic conditional correlation GARCH model, which is developed by Engle (2001, 2002), to detect the timing and nature of changes in the comovement between Iranian output and prices for the periods after Iran–Iraq war , known as imposed war . The results showed that there is a weak correlation between output and prices after imposed war and varies periodically...
متن کاملTime-Varying Mean Reversion in Stock Prices: Evidence and Implications for Market Efficiency
This paper investigates changes in the long-horizon behaviour of stock prices. Using a time-varyingparameter framework, we find that any pre-World War II tendency for mean reversion disappearsduring the post-War period. Furthermore, when we account for changes in the market risk premiumdue to dramatic shifts in pre-War return volatility, the full sample evidence for mean reversion i...
متن کاملOil market power and United States national security.
It is widely believed that an oil weapon could impose scarcity upon the United States. Impending resource exhaustion is thought to exacerbate this threat. However, threat seems implausible when we consider strategic deficits of prospective weapon users and the improbability of impending resource exhaustion. Here, we explore a hypothesis relating oil to national security under a different assump...
